Matthew Ward signs The Silverlight Trilogy

26 Oct 2026

The Broken Binding Publishing have acquired Matthew Ward’s THE SILVERLIGHT TRILOGY, set in the same world as his highly praised LEGACY TRILOGY.

The Broken Binding Publishing have acquired Matthew Ward’s THE SILVERLIGHT TRILOGY, set in the same world as his highly praised LEGACY TRILOGY. Simon Spanton, Commissioning Editor at The Broken Binding Publishing, acquired World English language rights including ebook and audio from John Jarrold at The John Jarrold Literary Agency.

THE SILVERLIGHT TRILOGY is high stakes, action-filled epic fantasy of the first order.  The first book will be published in the summer of 2028.

As mortal realms bicker, divine forces stir from slumber and a world birthed from primal Dark will end in fire. Unless, of course, the war is stopped before it begins. An exiled prince. A reluctant witch. A scoundrel burdened by ancient guilt. They will be the first to stand against the divine, but others must answer the call. Otherwise, the Reckoning of the Gods will lay waste to everything that is and ever will be.

Matthew Ward said: "Absolutely delighted to be returning to the world of Aradane, and couldn't wish for better companions on the road than Matt and the rest of the Broken Binding team."

Simon Spanton, Commissioning Editor at The Broken Binding Publishing said: "The track record of Matthew's Legacy trilogy speaks for itself but talking to Matthew as we struck the deal for this wholly new epic fantasy trilogy, his passion for the genre and his skill at weaving a compelling story through a richly imagined world made it clear that this would be a fantastic future opportunity. I'm thrilled that he has decided to entrust this to The Broken Binding Publishing and that we can look forward to joining him in this new epic chapter."

John Jarrold, from The John Jarrold Literary Agency added: "I'm so delighted to have done this deal with TBB for Matthew Ward’s wonderful new epic fantasy series, set in the same world as his LEGACY trilogy. The Broken Binding’s Matt Holland has been a huge supporter of Matthew going back to LEGACY OF ASH, and this really  feels like coming home.  It's the agency's first deal with The Broken Binding Publishing, but it certainly won't be the last!  And it’s great to be working with my old friend Simon Spanton again!"

About Matthew Ward

Matthew Ward grew up on a steady diet of Doctor Who, Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Prisoner, as well as the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and Terry Pratchett. These days, he lives in the heart of the Midlands with his extremely patient wife and a pride of attention-seeking cats and writes to entertain anyone who feels there’s not enough magic in the world. Formerly a foundational voice of Games Workshop’s Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 universes, he now balances the life of an author with one of writing and voice directing for video games, including Darktide, Vermintide 2, Aliens: Dark Descent and others. He’s afflicted with an obsession for old places — castles, historic cities, and the London Underground chief amongst them — and morally complex characters.
