Emrael Ire might have been a king, only a few generations ago. Instead, he works night shifts just to afford tuition at The Citadel, where he trains to become a Master of War and his genius brother Banron studies infusori Crafting. They dream not of crowns, only of a good, honest life.
Even these modest dreams are taken from them when the Lord Governor of a neighboring province captures the Citadel, forcing Banron and the other Crafters to build weapons for his increasingly desperate war.
Emrael narrowly escapes but refuses to leave Banron behind. He will sacrifice anything to save his brother. Will it be enough?
Scott Drakeford
Scott Drakeford lives in the US Pacific Northwest with his badass data wizard of a wife, their tenacious children, and one very naughty dog.
Scott is a longtime lover of the written word, especially fantasy fiction. His father and other mentors convinced him to read fantasy novels as a youngster, and the best books soon became Scott’s world. The Wheel of Time, The Saga of Recluce, A Song of Ice and Fire, and many other books influenced young Scott deeply.
Later, Scott was tricked into becoming a “responsible adult”. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering and lived the American corporate life for well over a decade. All the while, his addiction to books lived on, and writing became his way of contributing beauty and meaning to the world.
While Scott spends most of his time raising his children and writing, when he has time he enjoys: stressing about the general state of the world, watching NBA basketball (go Jazz!), weightlifting, video games, hunting, fishing, cooking, and (of course) reading.
